Discovery
We began our efforts with stakeholder interviews and audits of the existing platform. We interviewed 7 individuals from across the IUCN network, including IUCN staff, Councilors, and partnering environmental organizations. Their insights validated our audit findings that the site could be overwhelming, lacked hierarchy, and required better wayfinding. We distilled our findings into a recommendation report then guided our blended UX/UI process.
Design Sprints
With a clear set of goals, UX Strategist Bret Caples and I worked together to create the new system. In three rounds, we were able to create a robust and flexible system that introduced new ways to compare data, clearer paths through the platform, and a more efficient visual language to best showcase the stories held within the site.
Following our design process, I also created a style sheet for the client to share with their development partner.
